For Milan Design Week 2026, Zimmer + Rohde presents the immersive spatial installation “Il Corridoio” at its own showroom in Milan, developed by Berlin-based designer Fabian Freytag. The staging translates Zimmer + Rohde’s textile expertise into a walk-through spatial experience – positioned between architecture, light, and fabric. Selected current collections form the basis, their materiality, structures, and color worlds are experienced not as surface, but as space-defining elements. “Il Corridoio” transforms the showroom into a mysterious, walkable corridor – a tent-like textile structure that envelops visitors and immerses them in a distinct atmosphere. The space becomes a moment of pause and orientation. Here, textile does not define decoration, but forms the architecture. At the heart of the installation are sculptural light objects crafted from Zimmer + Rohde textiles. They structure the space, set accents, and lend the corridor a calm, almost meditative presence. “To me, the light objects are like figures in a spatial still life. They carry the narrative of the space without being loud. The light filtered through textile shells alters the perception of material – fabric becomes atmospheric, intimate, something which feels alive. I am interested in that moment when textiles are no longer just on the surface, but define a space.” — Fabian Freytag With “Il Corridoio” , Zimmer + Rohde demonstrates how textiles can define spaces, provide orientation, and create emotional depth. Architecture, textile, and light merge into a walkable composition that turns the transition itself into an experience. “Il Corridoio” is therefore not merely an installation, but a sensorial statement on the creative and poetic power of textiles in space.
