Design in Motion: BI.CI.’s multisensory project transforming Milan during Design Week 2026 During Design Week 2026, Milan once again becomes an international hub for design with Design in Motion , a project by BI.CI. that interprets design as a living, immersive process in constant dialogue with the city. Conceived as a cultural intervention spread across the heart of the Quadrilatero della Moda, the project transforms the urban space into a sensory journey that engages both citizens and visitors. More than a traditional exhibition, it is an experience to be explored—where design emerges as a language capable of combining aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability. The route unfolds between Via Sant’Andrea and Via della Spiga, extending into the BI.CI. showroom, and is structured through a series of installations that reinterpret the relationship between people, space, and design. On Via Sant’Andrea, a transparent glass structure hosts live musical performances in collaboration with students from the Milan Conservatory, accompanied by curated fragrances that enhance the emotional dimension of the experience. Sound and scent merge, transforming the public space into a place of perception and reflection. On Via della Spiga, the focus shifts to touch: a vertical installation invites the public to interact with surfaces made from regenerated materials—wood, metal, resins, and stone—highlighting the transformation of waste into design resources. The installation makes the value of reuse and sustainability tangible and accessible. Also on Via della Spiga, within the BI.CI. courtyard, sight takes center stage with the display of a Ferrari presented by Rossocorsa. As an icon of Italian automotive design, the vehicle embodies a dialogue between heritage and innovation, representing the excellence of Italian craftsmanship and engineering. The journey concludes inside the BI.CI. showroom, where design becomes a convivial experience through a bespoke Gin & Tonic experience created specifically for the event. Here, taste and smell converge in a final sensory moment, transforming tasting into a designed gesture that reflects contemporary Italian lifestyle. At its core, Design in Motion emphasizes sustainability and the promotion of emerging talents. The installations are created using recycled materials and low-impact technologies, while the involvement of young designers and music students fosters a meaningful exchange between education, experimentation, and urban space. With this project, BI.CI. presents a vision of design that goes beyond objects to become a shared cultural experience—an urban narrative that invites the public to engage with design through all five senses, rediscovering its power to connect people, places, and ideas.
